Cynon Valley Museum Welcomes Beth Winter MP to the Museum

Beth Winter MP Visits Cynon Valley Museum

Cynon Valley Museum was delighted to welcome Beth Winter, Cynon Valley’s Member of Parliament to the museum last Friday. As part of her visit, she met with trustees, staff and volunteers from the museum team who showed her around the museum’s temporary exhibition and permanent gallery which showcases the rich history of the Cynon Valley.

Chair of Cynon Valley Museum Trust Richard Jones said “It was great to welcome Beth Winter to the Museum and show her around. She was very keen to see the work that has gone into the reopening and to talk about our plans for the future. It was a great opportunity to demonstrate the new toilets we have had installed, as well as our new baby changing facilities and accessible toilet.”

Vital Support During the Covid-19 Pandemic

During her visit to the museum, trustees and staff discussed the challenges of the 18 months caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and the vital support the museum received through Covid-19 emergency funding from funders including Pen Y Cymoedd, National Lottery Heritage Fund, Moondance Foundation, Welsh Museums Federation, MALD (Museums, Archives and Library Division of the Welsh Government) and rate relief from local government.

The trustees and staff went on to discuss the successful reopening of the museum which has seen the museum reopen 4 days a week, the recently relaunched room and venue hire offer and the reopening the mezzanine gallery on the 22nd of September.
