In 2016, Cynon Valley Museum was saved for the community by you our community. Many of you have continued to support us through our journey. Today we face a new challenge, the Coronavirus.
On the 18th March to fight the spread of the Coronavirus and to help protect our community, volunteers and staff we closed our galleries, shop and cafe. We will not reopen them until it is safe for all of us.
When we reopen we want to continue to serve the community as we have for the last four years, offering a kaleidoscope of events, exhibitions and activities for everyone in our community. We are not just a museum, we are a playgroup, a heritage talk, an art workshop, a café, a gallery for local artists, a shop for local crafts. We want to be here for you…
But today we face an unprecedented challenge. Closing the museum has dramatically reduced our income, 85% of our income is derived from what we do in the community. This income is realised by the simple action of you and other people in our community walking through the museum’s doors and creating conversation, making the museum your own. We would not exist without you or your continued support.
Making a donation today, means we can begin to rebuild, prepare for the future and ensure we are here for future generations. Your action today is part of a proud tradition in this valley. You belong to a strong community who have saved the museum before and you can save the museum today.

There many ways you can continue to support the museum during this difficult time. We have moved our exhibition programme online with our brand new digital gallery Exhibition at Home with brand new exhibitions every two weeks. Interested in history? We are researching local history and telling Stories from the Collection every week.
Want to support the museum more regularly? Please consider making a monthly donation to the museum for the price of one coffee you could support the museum every month. Interested in becoming a friend of the museum? Join the museums as a Friend of the Museum and receive a quarterly newsletter, and special invitations to the opening of our latest exhibitions. There are many ways you can support the museum, any support you can give from just sharing our posts on social media to making a monthly donation is important and vital to us at this unprecedented time.
