The Cynon Valley Museum Trust is delighted to share that they have been shortlisted as a finalist in the Welsh Charity Awards 2019 in the category of ‘Thriving Charity’.
The inaugural year of the awards, organised by the Welsh Centre for Voluntary Action (WCVA), will “recognise and celebrate the fantastic contribution charities, community groups, not-for-profits and volunteers make to Wales.”. The CVMT will attend a high-profile award ceremony in November, at the National Museum of Wales, when they will find out who has been successful in their category.
The Thriving Charity Award is specifically focussed on organisations who have adapted or updated their service provision, income generating practice, or internal processes to become more financially sustainable and resilient. Since its inception in 2015 and the reopening of the Cynon Valley Museum in 2018, the CVMT has successful redeveloped how the museum is run, and secured core costs funding to safeguard the future of the Museum.
The CVMT is very grateful to its staff, trustees, and volunteers who have worked extremely hard since the reopening of the Museum to establish the charity and ensure it will be financially sustainable. The Trust is also very grateful to local people, businesses and organisations who have supported the Cynon Valley Museum since 2016 and hopes the relationships will continue into the Museum’s future. The CVMT’s staff costs are currently supported through a Pen y Cymoedd Wind Farm Community Fund Vision Fund grant, which will allow the staff team the time and resources to develop resilient income generating strategies.
