We have an exciting new volunteering opportunity available at the Cynon Valley Museum, in collaboration with the Jewish History Association of South Wales.
This role is suitable for a person interested in social history, local heritage, and archives and museums.
The aim of the role is to research the Rhondda Cynon Taf museums’ collections (Cynon Valley Museum, Rhondda Heritage Park, and Pontypridd Museum) and improve their interpretations.
The tasks will include:
- Researching the museums’ collections and identifying the Jewish material;
- Adding new interpretations to the existing material;
- Digitising and cataloguing the newly acquired material for publication on the People’s Collection Wales (PCW);
- Uploading the material to the PCW.

Volunteers can also be based at Rhondda Heritage Park or Pontypridd Museum. The application process is the same for each venue, so please state in your application if you have a preference or can reach any of the three sites.
